Engineering-
aeronautical methods
The engineering of a large
composite structure such as a super catamaran of 121' is
equivalent of calculating the loads an aircraft experiences
in flight. Our team's integral members are aeronautical
engineers and structural designers that have created race
winning 125' monster-cats that are still crossing oceans
after nearly one decade of hard service.
Aeroyacht catamarans are built utilizing
advanced aeronautical
construction techniques employing
various composites such as Kevlar and Carbon skins that
together provide extreme stiffness for the least weight.
Our team employs complex computer programs that model (CFD)
Computational Fluid Dynamic calculations and (FIA) Finite Element Analysis maps to match
dynamic loads with just the right construction. This avoids the
pitfall of overbuilding the boat and making it too heavy. Just like a bridge that
needs to be engineered to carry 85% of its weight a
catamaran's main structural feature is to support its own
mass. The lighter she can be built the less there is to
support - and of course the less heavy the catamaran is the
more payload she can carry and/or faster she can sail.
